Heating

An adult needs a minimum of 36x18x18 inches (92x46x46 centimeter).

Substrate

What substrate you use is up to you. I use Aubiose and Coco Coir but Aspen, Lignocell(not seemingly available in the US), Coco Coir, Coco Husk, Newspaper, Kitchen Roll, etc. are all suitable. No phenolic woods such as Pine and Cedar as the phenols they release can cause respiratory infections.

First your corn snake's skin will start to loose colour and the eyes go milky cloudy. At this point your corn may get agressive and can also go off its food (their skin can be more sensative at this time). then you will notice the eyes almost go back to normal this can last for a few days before your snake sheds its skin.

Now hopefully the skin comes off in one but if it doesnt dont worry there are things you can do

first if it does all come off sheck the eye caps and tip of the tail you want to make sure they are both there on the skin. (dont try to measure this as its been stretched about 10% extra the length of your snake - it will be wet and rubbery to start with but dries and becomes almost paper like)

But what to do if it doesn't all come off in one

A warm bath and helping your snake shed by running your fingers down the side to help rub it off, a moss box to sit your snake in, or Blue Powerade as a bath (the reason the skin has not come off is an indication of dehydration of the snake - more likely to happen if its gone off its food before shedding)

there are things you can do to help your snake out

raise the humidity in the viv with a spray bottle

put in a moss box ( a box with damp moss in it)

bark and anything else the snake can use to rub the skin off

Hides

Eye Pleasing Decor

Flora - Flowers, vines, etc. will all give extra coverage for your snake to curl up under while making the enclosure look nice.
Hard Scape - Branches, skulls, etc. give the same benefits as above
LED strips also can spice up an enclosure.

A minimum of two hides must be used, one for the warm end and one for the cold end. More can be used if you would like.

Food

Fresh water needs to be in the tank at all times. The water bowl should be heavy enough that the snake cannot tip it over.

Feed rats and mice and when it comes to size it depends on age and girth of the largest part of the snakes abdomen,

When it comes to heat matt or heat light, either works but personally I prefer heat mats as they are hidden under the substrate. The heat mat should cover 1/4 to 1/3 of the enclosure. If using a heat lamp, it must have a guard on it and must maintain a hot spot temperature of between 28-30c(82.4-86F).

Thermometers

You need one to measure the direct temperature of the warm side and one to measure the general temperature of the cool side. There are different types, many people prefer digital thermometers as dial thermometers are wildly inaccurate.

Thermostat

Depending on your heat source will decide which thermostat you need. If you are using a heat mat, a mat stat is fine. If you are using a heat lamp you will need a dimmer thermostat.
